Donation Questions
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. The Forge operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
How will funds be used?
Capital campaign funds are directed toward facility buildout and initial operating expenses. We operate with full transparency and provide regular updates to donors.
Where will my money go if The Forge doesn't get built?
If The Forge Ice Arena project cannot be completed, all lawful outstanding obligations and reasonable wind-down expenses will be paid first. Any remaining funds will then be transferred, consistent with donor restrictions and applicable law, to a qualified local 501(c)(3) organization with a similar charitable mission.

Can I remain anonymous?

What recognition will I receive?
Donors receive recognition based on giving level, including website listing, facility recognition walls, naming opportunities, and exclusive events.
Facility Questions
Who is behind The Forge?
The Forge was founded on a vision and a commitment to fund it. The Lehmann Family—a Bend-based family with three generations of love for the game—provided the founding investment that launched this effort, and their belief that Central Oregon deserves world-class ice is the foundation on which The Forge is built. Their investment isn't just financial. It's a statement that Central Oregon deserves something extraordinary—and that everyone deserves a place in it.
Alongside them, Derek Meyer, John Kromm, Tyler Brower, and Steve Elwell bring decades of hockey experience and deep Central Oregon roots to the board, leading the effort to make The Forge a reality.
When will The Forge open?
We are currently in the permitting phase, which we expect to take about one year. Construction is estimated at two years from groundbreaking, which we are targeting for late 2027 or early 2028. Follow our updates for the latest milestones.
Where will The Forge be located?
The Forge will sit on a seven-acre campus at 20835 and 20895 Cooley Road in Northeast Bend, keeping the two-sheet complex central to Bend, Redmond, and Prineville.
What programs will be offered?
The Forge will offer programs spanning youth hockey, women's hockey, figure skating, learn-to-skate, adult leagues, public skating, tournaments, camps, and more.
Will there be public skating?
Yes. Public skating sessions will be a core part of our programming, making ice accessible to everyone.
Can I host a tournament at The Forge?
Yes. With two NHL-regulation sheets, The Forge is designed to host regional and national tournaments. Contact us for booking inquiries.
How is The Forge different from The Pavilion?
The Forge will be Central Oregon's only year-round, dedicated ice facility with two NHL-regulation sheets, and is a nonprofit community asset. The Pavilion operates seasonally with a single sheet, and is operated by Bend Parks & Recreation.
